LTCC Technologies
LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) – technology for the production of multilayer ceramic electro-, radio- and microwave components, modules and boards.
Sample of multi layer module
Primary Advantages of LTCC Technology :
- Firing temperature of 850 °Ñ permits to use materials with low specific resistance , such as silver and gold, instead of molybdenum and tungsten , being used in high-temperature technology;
- Tapes with various features (e.g. working frequency above 30GHz and temperature up to 3500 °Ñ ) can be used as a base of module & board;
- Best heat conduction compared with usual semiconductor circuit boards;
- Capability of creating passive elements E, L and C in the layers, providing modules & boards compactness;
- Each layer is inspected before module assembly and if required, can be changed, increasing product yield;
- High-reliable layer hermiticity ;
- Technological cycles of multi-layer ceramic modules are ecologically clean and compact;
- Manufacturing techniques is relatively simple and less expensive ;
- Many processes can be automated during the serial production ;
- Reduction of manufacturing cycle compared with the usual thick-film technology (parallel processes).
